Born into a family with a rich musical heritage, Vidya began her journey into the world of music at the age of 12 when she started learning South Indian Classical music and as a young Carnatic vocalist, had several concerts to her credit. She experimented with tribal music during a short stint of her stay in a tribal area in Western Madhya Pradesh and a cassette of songs based on the local music with social messages was produced and used extensively for advocacy and awareness in the area. With her love for and exposure to the North Indian style of classical music, she decided to make a foray into this style of vocal music. She has trained under Smt. Shubha Mudgal in Khayal Gayaki and with Smt. Shanti Hiranand in Thumri, Dadra and Ghazal. Vidya has a rich and captivating voice. With her ongoing training in Khyal Gayaki, Vidya has also under the guidance of her Guru gained a rich repertoire of Sufi and Bhakti Music. She also enjoys composing on her own. She has performed on various National and International forums and has worked with International Labels and has to her credit three projects - Anja (Album Realize), "Far From Home" (Album Medieval Punditz) and South Asia Travels with the US based record company Six Degrees. She has composed and sung for radio, TV programs as well as documentary films. Recorded at: Digital Studio, New Delhi Mixed and Mastered by Prateek Roy Music for Aarti by Guru Nanak composed by Dr. Madan Gopal Singh. |
