A disciple of Vidushi Savita Devi Ji, Meenakshi ji sings mostly Thumri, Dadra, Chaiti, Kajri, Hori etc, in the style of Banaras Gharana. Having been a Class-1 officer with the Life Insurance Corporation of India gave her a chance to learn and perform at some of the centres of music like Allahabad, Kanpur, Patna and Delhi over the years.

Meenakshi ji has received awards including the "Sangeet Kala Gaurav Samman" by Sangeet Kala Kendra, Agra and has performed at many festivals and concerts all over the country and indeed the world.
