Chapeli
is a form of singing and dancing of the Kumaon region.
It is usually performed during weddings, fairs and festivals.
It usually has one main singer and one main dancer. The
dancer used to be a woman but now there is a practice
of a male dancer dressed as a woman. The man and woman
enact a scene of love and the singing is in the form of
question and answer.
